At Minera Caserones, mining is carried out in open-pit
mines whose ore is sent, depending on its
mineralogical characteristics, to the concentrator plant
(primary sulfides) or the solvent extraction and
electrowinning plant (oxides, mixed and secondary
sulfides). In addition, ore with low chemical grade,
among other characteristics, is sent directly from the
mine to dump Leach heaps without a crushing process,
where it is leached using a drip irrigation system,
whose solution obtained (Pregnant Leach Solution,
PLS) is collected and sent to the extraction plant
mentioned above.
The generation of plans that optimally schedule the
entire process necessary to define from the extraction
site to the ore deposit site, including type, capacity and
availability of loading and transportation equipment,
stockpile and plant capacity, geological and
geometallurgical characteristics of the ore, time scale
required, among others, is done manually and using
information from different sources that must be
cleaned and structured, which represents a task that
requires a high dedication of time of specialists and
susceptible to errors that could decrease the value of
the mining business.
On an ongoing basis, and whenever a mining plan
needs to be defined for the short, medium and long
term.

Planning is done manually with review of counterparts.
No technologies have been tested to date.
– Proposals of consulting and/or advisory are excluded.
– Suppliers without experience in mining AI
applications are excluded.
It seeks to automate the formulation of short, medium
and long term mining plans of the Dump Leach, in
order to reduce the efforts in its conformation, and
reduce the intrinsic variability of the process.
Likewise, it is desirable that this automation process is
accompanied by data analytics by AI to improve
mining plans and management.

processes.

4. To have tools for reporting and visualization of
results.
