About Expande

Who are we?

Expande seeks to promote the development of ecosystems that allow creating virtuous circles among challenges pertaining to the natural resources industry and the innovativesolutions generated by local and international companies.

Under open innovation and associativity models, we seek that companies and suppliers obtain value for their businesses by incorporating and implementing technologies.

This initiative, under the umbrella of Alta Ley National Mining Program, is co-designed and implemented by Fundación Chile and its strategic partners: Corfo, Antofagasta Minerals, BHP, Codelco, Teck, Sierra Gorda SCM, the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism, the Ministry of Mining.

From the very beginning we have sought to connect and promote the development of virtuous circles between the mining industry and the innovation ecosystem along three main focuses:


Enrique Molina

Executive Director

Civil Mining Engineer from the University of Chile, M.Sc Mineral Economics Curtin Technology Western Australian School of Mine, with 23 years of experience in the mining industry. Throughout his professional career he has assumed executive roles leading multidisciplinary teams and fulfilling various functions in areas such as production, project management, mining-metallurgical planning and technological innovation, covering a large part of the mining business value chain.

Ricardo Morgado

Director of Strategy and Development

Civil Industrial Engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica with 27 years of work experience in multinationals (food, mass consumption, sanitaryware, innovation, technology transfer and mining) in positions of Quality Assurance Manager (Malloa- Unilever- Best Foods), Foods Quality Auditor (SEAC- Unilever), Co-Packer Manager, Corporate Research and Quality Deputy Manager (CISA), among others. During the years 2009-2011 he directed the project of the Integrated Operations Center, in El Teniente Division, Codelco, Rancagua. He has participated as Project Director in open innovation since 2013 at Fundación Chile.

Óscar Concha

Technology Manager

Industrial Civil Engineer with a major in mining from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with a diploma in Block Caving Engineering and PMP (c) certification, with sixteen years of experience in project development, validation and application of technologies in the areas of materials handling , mine preparation and mechanized excavation. Experiencia en el desarrollo de pruebas industriales de equipos chancadores de bajo perfil realizada en las minas Diablo-Regimiento y III Panel de Codelco. Experiencia en el diseño y aplicación de elementos prefabricados para la construcción de obras civiles (marcos de fortificación, muros, pavimentos) en las divisiones El Teniente, Andina y Salvador de Codelco. Evaluación de diversas soluciones tecnológicas para la excavación mecanizada de galerías y túneles para los proyectos Nuevo Nivel Mina, Chuquicamata Subterránea, y en las divisiones Ministro Hales y Andina de Codelco.

Victoria Cortínez

Technology Manager

Chemical Civil Engineer and Master in Engineering Sciences (Ms.) from the University of Chile with a 6-month internship at Åbo Akademi University, Turku, Finland. Professional with eight years of experience in the areas of development and innovation of mining companies, with work in areas of mathematical modeling and process optimization, in addition to having experience in planning, management, project development and start-up of mining operations.

Raúl Peralta

Technology Manager

Civil Engineer in Mines from the University of Chile with more than 24 years of experience in metallurgy, operation of copper and gold mineral processing plants and technical advice on mining projects. He has played management and leadership roles in work teams in different medium and large mining companies. During the last years he has held positions as Process Superintendent at Barick Gold, Senior Metallurgy Advisor at Anglo American and as Specialist Consultant in Mining for Corfo Projects in Innovation for Development.

Matías Ortega

Technology analyst

Bilingual Civil Chemical Engineer from the University of Chile with experience as a Project Engineer at JHG Ingeniería, being in charge of the development of training courses for the mining industry and in Total Chile as a Product Engineer where he was responsible for product monitoring in SAP and management of its life cycle. In addition, he has experience as an entrepreneur being in charge of a family micro-business for 4 years.

Madeleine Colet

Technology analyst

Bilingual Chemical Engineer from the University of Chile with experience in R + D + i. She has worked as a researcher at the Polymer Laboratory of the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Chile and a Project Engineer in Engineering 2030 where she was in charge of the gathering and analysis of information related to technology transfer for the R&D area. and links with the industry. In addition, she has in the formulation of projects for programs and calls for public and private financing.

Victoria Zúñiga

Civil Engineer in Biotechnology and Chemistry from the University of Chile with experience in applied research project management and technology evaluation. He has worked as a Project Engineer at INECON and as a Project Manager at the Universidad de Los Andes where he was in charge of coordinating and technically managing innovation management activities, such as preparation of the technology portfolio, technical management of I projects. + D applied, technology evaluation and technology transfer initiatives.
