Antofagasta Minerals has requested Expande to scout for suppliers in the local and international ecosystem that can provide solutions for the challenge “Intelligent system for substandard conditions in open pit mine”

DESCRIPTION OF CHALLENGE:

Currently, Antucoya Mine, uses for the monitoring of activities in the mine area, a set of cameras that allows maintaining a degree of control over certain activities (crushed discharge, dry area, wet area, etc.). This same tool can be used by dispatchers, geotechnicians, as well as supervisors, superintendents, managers and any other area required. This provides a better control in terms of safety, allowing verification of good practices (Risk of Transversal Fatalities Standard (ERFT): 01, 02 and 03).

SCOPE OF THE CHALLENGE:

Technological solutions for monitoring and/or predicting online and real time risk conditions in the following operational protocols are required to verify the following conditions:

• Minimum distance of support equipment interacting with electric/hydraulic shovels in front cleaning.
• Minimum distance between CAEX
• Interaction of minor vehicles with loading equipment
• Speed control of vehicles in different zones.
• Minimum distance to the edge of the dump.

The proposed solutions must monitor 24 hrs. a day and 7 days a week, must have high availability, low maintenance requirements and optimal behavior in high pollution and high mountain conditions.

BACKGROUND – PRIOR SOLUTION ATTEMPTS:

Tests were carried out with cameras model Bosch MIC 7000, currently installed on site.

• Online information to control a safe operation.
• Improvement in the evaluation of mine conditions.
• Improvement in productivity, product of a better control and decrease in detentions due to accidents.
• Support to investigations, analysis of events.

KEY PERFOMANCE INDICATORS:

Decrease of high potential accidents in loading front, haul road, certain trajectories and drilling yards.
